O MONSTRO DO LAGO NESS: Lago na Escócia é um ponto turístico que atrai turistas por causa de suas lendas

Existem muitos lugares pelo mundo que atraem a curiosidade de turistas por conta de lendas e acontecimentos misteriosos que a população local relata. É o caso da cidade de Inverness, na Escócia, que se localiza na costa nordeste do país, e está a somente 3 horas de Edimburgo, a capital escocesa.
É em Inverness que está localizado o famoso Lago Ness, o segundo maior lago do país com aproximadamente 37 km de extensão e 230 metros de profundidade, estando próximo a muitos castelos antigos bem típicos da Escandinava.
O lago Ness é muito famoso em todo mundo, pois corre a lenda que ele é o lar de um monstro gigante, a Nessie, como as pessoas carinhosamente acabaram apelidando o suposto monstro. O mito faz parte da tradição popular da Escócia e de quase toda a Europa. O personagem rende, até hoje, inúmeras histórias, fotografias e até dinheiro para quem lucra com o turismo da região.
As lendas dizem que Nessie é um animal enorme e pescoçudo, e se parece muito com um dinossauro do período Mesozoico. Ele também é descrito como um réptil marinho com 10 metros de comprimento.
Segundo o que dizem os moradores da região, já foram relatadas várias aparições do monstro. No entanto, foi só em 1933 que Nessie começou a receber grande atenção da população e da mídia local. O jornal local Inverness Courier fez uma grande reportagem sensacionalista que contava como um casal de hoteleiros teria visto o animal nadando no lago. Eles ainda reproduziram uma “fotografia” que alegavam ser da criatura. Na época, foram oferecidas 20 mil libras pela captura do animal.
No ano seguinte, em 1934, o cirurgião R.K. Wilson divulgou o que se tornaria a mais famosa foto do Monstro do Lago Ness. No livro The Loch Ness Mystery Solved, Ronald Binns conta como, na verdade, a imagem era uma fraude e acabou frustrando a todos.
Por conta da curiosidade das pessoas, muitas pesquisas sobre o animal foram e continuam sendo feitas por diversos cientistas. Em 2003, um grupo de pesquisadores contratados pela BBC usou sonares e tecnologia de navegação por satélite para tentar encontrar a criatura nas águas geladas da Escócia. Mas até hoje, nada foi encontrado e a lenda continua tendo expressividade tanto na região em que se encontra o lago, quanto em outros países ao redor do mundo.
De acordo com os dados da cidades, o local recebe um milhão de turistas por ano, gerando aproximadamente 100 milhões de dólares para a economia escocesa.
Quem quiser tentar avistar a Nessie com seus próprios olhos e tirar suas próprias conclusões sobre esse suposto mito que ronda a Escandinávia, pode facilmente chegar até a cidade, que tem seu próprio aeroporto internacional e voos diretos de Heathrow, aeroporto de Londres. A Estação Inverness recebe serviços diretos e rápidos de Glasgow Queen St, Edinburgh Waverley (ambas as três horas e meia) e London Euston (11,5 horas durante a noite com serviços Caledonian Sleeper, que você pode reservar com até 12 meses de antecedência).
